Site Services Team Leader (Grade 4B)

We are looking to recruit a confident; well organised and experienced Site Services Team under the leadership of the Chief Engineer.

The main responsibility of the role is to ensure ARA offers a safe, efficient and attractive workplace for all staff by maintaining and enhancing ARA’s estates, buildings and facilities. As well as ensure safe and effective operations of contractor services on site including their selection and contract negotiation.

The successful candidate will ideally have some experience in a similar role and in supervising a small team.

Main responsibilities:

This is a varied and hands-on role, main responsibilities include:

  • Manage a team of site maintenance and cleaning staff.
  • Ensure safe working with familiar hazards such as mains electricity but also understand and respect the dangers of the specialist systems such as high pressure air and high voltages.
  • Respond effectively to site maintenance requests
  • Maintain in top condition ARA’s facility machinery.
  • Write Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for Site Services tasks.
  • Manage and control contractors on site including managing RAMS.
  • Provide formal legionella control in domestic systems and provide cross-support with the industrial systems manager. Training will be arranged if necessary.
  • Manage the estates including:
  • Grounds and buildings
  • Intruder and fire alarms
  • Windows
  • Interceptors, gutters and
  • Pest control
  • Interface with external agencies such as the emergency services, power companies, refuse collection and so-on.
  • Manage small and medium projects such as replacing roofs, decommissioning and removing/moving plant and become a major contributor to large scale facilities projects such as replacement of large plant
  • Keep formal records of the site, changes made and maintenance works performed
  • Perform any reasonable tasks around site whether manual or administrative

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Show proactivity and initiative
  • Able to communicate with all levels of staff
  • Some experience of team leadership
  • At ease working in confined spaces and at height
  • Willing to provide on-site support on the rare occasions that site issues occur out of hours
  • Skilled and capable in general manual work around site
  • Proactive in introducing site improvements such as wheelchair access and implementing preventative maintenance
  • Comfortable operating IT equipment and using MS Office tools.

The successful candidate must satisfy security clearance requirements – including the last 5 years continual UK residency.
