Daniel – Electronics Apprentice

have been doing my apprenticeship now for almost two years. In this time I have been to a training group (BTG) and am now at ARA permanently based in the Systems Laboratory and doing an ONC at college. I am progressing well and learning many of the tasks for Systems and Experimental Aero, doing a mixture of the two. There are the daily jobs and the more individual and specialised tasks for tests that come up. These are the ones that prove most challenging. Most recently going back to science, first principals to resolve an inertia pre-test.

Earlier this year I was entered into the EEF’s apprentice of the year, where I got to the final shortlist. Unfortunately I did not get through to the second round of interviews. In addition to this I was awarded the compare systems PLC award from BTG. This was for programming a PLC to do a set task which I did successfully and progressed further to win the award.

At this time I am awaiting the results of my ONC as well as getting ready to start my HNC in September.
