Facility Capabilities

ISO 9300 metered mass flows of up to 12kg/s (26.5Ibs/sec) (fan) and 7kg/s (15.4Ibs/sec) (core)

  • Cold or hot core up to 600˚C (1112˚F) using a hydrogen burner
  • Total Pressure ratios of up to 5:1 (fan) and 4:1 (core)
  • 8,900N (2,000lbf) axial thrust capacity, with lateral force measurement capability for vectored thrust
  • Plentiful supply of clean, dry high pressure air for the blowdown system
  • Flow visualisation
  • Reinforced control room equipped with all the required data acquisition and health monitoring systems
  • Online data processing and near real-time graphical displays
  • Hot core run times up to 10 minutes – dependent on model size and core temperature
  • Model interface with total pressure and total temperature instrumentation
  • Calibrations traceable to UK national standards
