Moveable Section and High Speed Diffuser
Moveable Section
Models are assembled outside the tunnel on mobile carts in model
preparation bays. The carts can then be wheeled into the Test
Section once the moveable section has been pushed back. A system of
tracks and turntables link the model bays to the tunnel test
section.

The moveable section (which forms part of the High Speed Diffuser)
has been pushed back, and the model cart is sitting on a turntable
and is being rotated into position before it is pushed into the
test section on the left.
The photograph to the right shows the moveable section
being closed after the model has been installed in the test
section.
High Speed Diffuser
The high speed diffuser keeps the air flow smooth and efficient as it exits the Test Section at high speed.
