Corner Turning Vanes

Introduction

Turning vanes are installed at the four corners of the Transonic Wind Tunnel circuit in order to turn the airflow as efficiently as possible around the 90 degree bends.

Corners 3 and 4 are located between the Cooler and the Settling Chamber.

Corners 1 and 2 are located between the High Speed Diffuser and the Fan Section.

The photograph shows the vanes at corner 1 looking in the direction of the airflow as it exits from the High Speed Diffuser.
